Ed �Coach� Wong, now retired as Assistant National Pistol Coach for the United States Shooting Team, first served under Arnold Vitarbo, National Pistol Coach Arnold Vitarbo.and later under former National Pistol Coach, Erich Buljung.  Coach served in this position from August 1992 to late June 2005.

In 1994 Coach Wong Co-founded with then President, George Patterson, the National Association of Shooting Sports Athletes (NASSA).  Initially this national organization was developed to coach and develop America’s junior shooting youth.  However, as the need for shooting safety, expertise and talent became more evident the scope of NASSA changed to encompass all athletes interested in competitive shooting.  NASSA has now evolved into a well known  international market for learning the art of being a “Pistoleer.”

Coach is still very much involved in supporting international style shooting. He has personally conducted six National Junior Olympic Pistol and two “Masters” camps at the “Olympic Training Center at Colorado Springs, CO. He has also served under the direction of Lones Wigger, as Director of all shooting venues for both the 1995 and 1996 Olympic Festivals in St. Louis and Denver respective.  To date, he has established five viable Olympic-style pistol shooting clubs while conducting several shooting camps and clinics throughout the United States.

Ed Ordesch joined the NASSA staff as Assistant Pistol Coach to Coach Wong in 1999, and has been an NRA certified pistol instructor since 1990.  A long time member of the Dallas Pistol Club (DPC) and Texas State Rifle Association.

Ed Ordesch got his start in pistol shooting in 1963 while in the Army and he currently competes in both Bullseye Pistol and High Power Rifle venues.  Ed passes on his shooting knowledge to young and old shooters alike.  Coach Wong places great value upon “Coach Ed,” as he is affectionately known, as he takes on the Vice President and Operations Director duties of NASSA.   Additionally, Coach Ed has been and is instrumental in making NASSA’s 10m International air pistol "Shooting Stars" program the success that it is.  He is a trusted, dedicated, respected and well rounded individual in all tasks and opportunities assigned him.

Mr. Ed “Coach” Ordesch is a computer programmer and Insurance Adjuster by trade with a background in accounting and math.  He also own his own Gunsmithing business where he lives in Frisco, Texas with his wife Lana, two sons, Will, and Tony.

Janice Tilma affectionately know as “MOM” is NASSA’s Secretary and Lead Scorer.  She is also the Mother of Mark Tilma, year 2001 Texas’ National Junior Olympic Pistol Athlete.  When on location and “On duty,” Janice heads each of her scoring teams to its highest level of competency.   Her efficient much valued skill is needed and necessary for NASSA to sustain its highest level of professionalism and confidence.  Her total work ethic and devotion to duty is without equal and has rightfully earned her much respect and praise among her peers, coaches and athletes.

At her own expense and initiative Mrs. Tilma enhanced her scoring skills by taking the “Administration and Scoring Techniques” course offered by none other than Fuji Vitarbo, world recognized Olympic and world class shooting events scorer.  Having been trained and certified in 1999 by Fugi to score targets for local and National Competitions, Janice has gone on to demonstrate accuracy, consistency, and leadership in all of her scoring teams.  It might be added, Janice continues to increase her scoring proficiency with each event she officiates.

Janice Tilma gives freely of her time and talent and to date has officiated at numerous Texas State Junior and Junior Olympic competitions.  This includes the National Association of Shooting Sports Athletes’ (NASSA) annual competition in New Orleans, LA.   In addition to her Secretarial and scoring duties with regard to event preparation and on the subject of good nutrition, Janice gives pertinent, meaningful lectures to help our shooting youth develop into more effective, efficient producing athletes.  In short, since 1999, Janice Tilma has been and is very much a valued member of NASSA’s staff and we are indeed fortunate to have her as part of our team.

• Served ten years in the Marine Corps and Air Force respectfully having been retired from the Air Force in 1973. While in the service I was a weapons specialist for over 12 years and shot for both the All Marine Corps Pistol Team and the All Air Force Pistol Team.

Joel Sexton started shooting and coaching in 1954 when he started college at the Univ. of Va.  At that time he started CLUB and varsity teams and an NROTC, AROTC, AFROTC rifle and pistol team league.  In 1959 he was high Navy shooter at Camp Perry winning the Crescent Cup by firing a score of 148 X 150 with an M-1 rifle.  In 1961 he was the captain of the first Navy International rifle squad at the first Interservice match.  He shot on the top Navy rifle team two years and with the pistol team four years.  While in the Navy in 1959, he became, distinguished in rifle and pistol and later won in 1961 the All Navy Rifle and Pistol Championship.  In 1961 and with the M1 rifle, he posted the Navy’s first perfect 500X500 on the fifty shot National Match Course, to lead his team to the All Navy Team Championship.  Over a number of years he won the SC and NC State Pistol Championships.

Sexton coached his Navy base rifle/pistol teams and helped them win the 1961 All Navy Championship.  That year he also won District, Fleet and All Navy rifle and pistol individual titles.  His 500X500 in the All Navy Team match enabled the EAST COAST team to win by one point.

He started coaching the Citadel team in the fall of 1972 when he decided he needed a break from his medical and teaching practice/career at the Medical Univ. of S.C. (MUSC).  His Citadel team has been to every College Championship since 1981 which were held at that time at MIT.  In all but five years, the Citadel has been grouped in the top five Pistol Teams at the Nationals.  During his tenure as the Citadel’s team coach, they have won air, free and standard pistol at the nationals and finished second a number of times in the team aggregate. Since 1982 he has helped to develop: 20 All-Americans on 65 teams and 6 team members on 8 Olympic Development Teams. The Citadel Pistol Team has held 7 national team and 5 individual national records. They have dominated the ROTC category from its conception until they withdrew voluntarily in 2000.

“Doc” Sexton has helped train numerous college and junior shooters who have won national collegiate titles and junior championships at the U.S. International Championships and the Championships of the Americas. The Citadel team is one of a very few that supports team members at this U.S. International Championship and National Junior Olympic Championship. The Citadel team is one of two college teams that regularly shoot International Rapid Fire.  They have had one to four team members attend the National Junior Olympic Pistol Championship every year since it's beginning in 1985 and have had numerous team members on the All Star team at the National Junior Olympics.

Doc still coaches the Newberry Junior Pistol Club which has received invitations to each of the NRA National Junior Air Gun Championship and USA Shooting National Progressive Position Air Pistol Championship. The Newberry Team has also had one or more members invited to the National Junior Olympics.

Doc Sexton has shot and coached while teaching at the Medical University of South Carolina ( 1972-1983 ) and running a busy hospital and forensic pathology practice. He has earned national records in a number of the international pistols events. He jokes about outlasting his competition.

George co-founded the National Association of Shooting Sports Athletes (NASSA) with NASSA Chairman Ed Wong, and served as NASSA's president from 1995 to 1999. George single-handedly tackled NASSA's computer, legal and administrative functions. His most significant accomplishments include: drafting up the NASSA membership and postal match guides, designing NASSA's administrative and scoring database, designing the postal match sticker system, and heading up NASSA's effort to obtain non-profit 501(c)(3) status.

George has been competing in air pistol since 1986. He competed at the national level, and has also worked as a volunteer at the USA Shooting National Matches. George currently serves as the Assistant Pistol Coach of the USA Shooting Junior Club under Ed Wong.

A consistently active pistol competitor since 1986, Jason has participated in countless competitions at the local, state, national, and international levels. His most recent accomplishments include being a finalist in the 1997 Crosman Airgun Championship in Toronto Canada, and winning the 1997 New York State NRA Outdoor International Championship in both Rapid Fire and Air Pistol.

A computer programmer by profession, Jason is employed by Ciber as a consultant.

Jason is currently training to gain a spot on the U.S. National Pistol Team.

Jason Herndon started shooting rifle at the age of 10 at his home rifle club in Missoula, Montana. After a successful six years run, he won the Junior Olympic Rifle Championships for the State of Montana at age 16. The following year he started shooting air pistol and again won the Montana State JOPC. In 1995 he placed 8th at the USA Shooting National Championships and earned a spot on the Junior Men "All Star" Pistol Team. As a result, he was invited to join the Junior Olympic Pistol Team under direction of then Asst. National Pistol Coach Ed Wong. Jason later became Coach Wong's Asst/Athlete Coach at the Junior Olympic Pistol Camp, which was held July 1996, at the U.S. Olympic Training Center, Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Jason shot on the above team until age 20 along side other "National Athletes" such as Jason Turner, Mike Douglass, Grant Saylor, Justin Barberi, John Bickar, Cody Maxwell, Tes Salb, Madeleine Bradford, Megan Wright and others, all of which were and are members of and the National Association of Shooting Sports Athletes (NASSA) Organization. Jason has continued with Rifle and never let this venue get far from his grasp. He has continued shooting both rifle and pistol, and for the last 5 years has been coaching junior rifle shooters back at his home club. He has produced 4 National Rifle Champions out of 5 state champions. Many of these athletes have placed 20th or higher at the "Nationals". Being a young coach he possess much energy, desire and dedication towards all shooting sports.

Jason has been a NASSA member since 1996 and very much in support of Coach Wong, his International Organization and the intentions of both. Beacuse of his competition experience, diligence, and attention to detail, Jason was invited to join the NASSA staff as our new 3P Rifle Venue Coach.

Jason is excited about becoming NASSA's 1st Rifle Venue Director and hopes to build a large interest in rifle postal matches.

Jason has been a life member of the NRA since 1990 and a Hellgate Civilian Rifle/Pistol Shooting member since 1985.
